Browse the Tysons Residents Directory

Search the Tysons residents directory by starting with the name or address you already have. A county parcel card can tie land to an owner, while old directories and local-library material can place a household in an earlier year. Court and voter channels answer narrower questions and have their own limits. Tysons is not an incorporated city, so Fairfax County is usually the custodian. Postal labels may say Tysons, McLean, or Vienna even when the underlying record belongs in the same county system. Match at least two reliable records before treating a result as current.

Finding Tysons Resident Records

Tysons has no city clerk or municipal court of its own. Fairfax County offices keep the practical starting records instead. Begin with an address in the Department of Tax Administration's iCare assessment system when the question is about a parcel or its recorded owner. Start with the Virginia Room when the name belongs to an earlier household. A name that appears in a deed, a voter record, or a court index needs a second record before it is treated as a meaningful match, especially when the name is common or the address has changed postal labels.

Official records identify different things. A parcel card can show an owner and mailing address, not every occupant. A deed records parties to a transaction. The individual voter portal is for a voter checking their own status, while a public voter-list request has eligibility, purpose, and responsibility-statement rules. Directory books can place a household at an address in a particular year, but they are not proof of a current occupant.

  1. Enter the street number and name in iCare, or use its map-number tab when a parcel number is known.
  2. Compare the situs address, owner field, legal description, and the separate mailing-address field on the parcel card.
  3. Use the parcel's book and page or legal description to continue through Fairfax Circuit Court land records.
  4. For an older household, check the Virginia Room's directories, telephone books, newspapers, maps, and yearbooks.
  5. When an existing public county record is not online, make a specific Virginia Freedom of Information Act request to the proper custodian.

Tysons Resident Custodians

Three Fairfax offices supply most current-record leads. DTA connects a Tysons address to assessment and ownership fields. The Circuit Court Land Records Division keeps the legal land trail. The elections office handles registration questions and voter-list procedures. The courthouse is physically in the independent City of Fairfax, but its Circuit Court serves Fairfax County. For a complete address-by-address sequence, use the Tysons streets resource after establishing which property is at issue.

Tysons Resident Parcels in iCare

Fairfax iCare is the practical address tool for the Tysons residents directory. Its Property Location form separates Number, Unit#, Street, and Suffix, with sorting and results-per-page controls. The county advises leaving off a suffix for broader results and using an asterisk as a wildcard. Entering *woodland returns matching Woodland street names; adding a street type narrows the set. The map-number form accepts a full or partial number. iCare updates property characteristics and ownership information, including sale dates and prices, twice each week.

The iCare address-search form shows the individual fields and its wildcard guidance.

The form helps identify a parcel before a person is associated with it. Its owner-name control was not exposed as a separate public route during the research inspection, so an address or map number is the safer starting point.

iCare fieldHow it helps
Number, Unit#, Street, SuffixLocates an assessed property by its address components.
Map NumberFinds a parcel by all or part of its tax map number.
Map SearchUses timing, distance, parcel buffers, center points or polygons.
Sort and Results/pageControls a longer set of matching address results.

Tysons Resident Address Clues

Do not treat every address on a parcel card as a home address. iCare separates the property location, also called the situs, from the owner mailing address. A Tysons-area card can show a Vienna or McLean postal label, and a corporate owner may receive mail somewhere else entirely. The card also can supply a book and page, map number, tax district, land-use code, zoning description, utilities, legal description, and its last refresh date. Those fields are anchors for a records search, not a list of residents.

Parcel
A tax-mapped piece of land associated with an assessment record.
Situs address
The physical location assigned to the property.
Index
A finding tool that points to a record, rather than the record image itself.
Criss-cross directory
A reverse directory arranged by address instead of name.

Note: A withheld online ownership record or a remote mailing address does not establish who occupies a Tysons property.

Tysons Resident Deeds in CPAN

Once an address produces a parcel detail, the legal trail moves to the Fairfax Circuit Court Land Records Division. Its collection reaches from 1742 to the present. CPAN, the Court Public Access Network, is the subscriber route for online records. Public computers in the Land Records Research Room are the free counter alternative. Deed-book indexes after 1866 are available through CPAN or courthouse terminals, while original deed books from 1742 through 1942 are kept by the Historic Records Center.

CPAN's official overview lists land, judgment, estate, marriage, notary, charter, trade-name, and assessment-related categories.

Use the parcel card's book and page, instrument number, or legal description to bridge into this system. A certified copy requires the instrument or book/page reference; the stated fee is $2 per document plus $0.50 per page.

Tysons Resident Address Maps

Fairfax GIS and Mapping Services adds a locator layer around a record search. Jade, the Digital Map Viewer, My Neighborhood, aerial imagery, open data, and the Master Address Repository are useful for reconciling a street name, unit, or parcel edge. My Neighborhood returns an address report with precinct and polling-place context, nearby services, libraries, parks, and other local information. It is not the legal source for deeds or easements.

The MAR layer has address-effective, address-change, and address-expiration fields. That makes it especially helpful when a historic directory address no longer matches a current label. Fairfax announced a mobile-friendly MAR improvement in July 2026 and refreshed aerial-imagery options in 2025. GIS itself cautions that easement layers can be incomplete, so an official easement question returns to the deed books or CPAN.

The county mapping page shows the GIS options available for a Tysons address.

Fairfax County's VFOIA request page documents the request channel used when a specific existing county record is not online.

It is a documented request channel, not a substitute for a broad fishing search.

Tysons Resident Voter Checks

The Virginia Citizen Portal is designed for a voter to check registration, polling place, absentee status, and voting history. Official instructions call for name, date of birth, the last four digits of the Social Security number, and locality. It is not an open street-by-street directory. Public voter lists are governed by Code of Virginia §§24.2-405 through 24.2-407 and requests use controlled products, filters, and a responsibility statement.

For court matters, the Virginia Judicial System's Case Status and Information service directs searchers to statewide court information, alongside the Fairfax Circuit Court's own clerk and files. A court party name confirms only that a name appears in a case context. Check court, locality, date, and docket details before connecting it to a Tysons resident.

The Citizen Portal entry screen is the official starting point for a voter checking their own registration.

The visible portal emphasizes a personal status workflow rather than a public directory of neighbors or households.

Current Tysons Resident Sources

There is no single official roll of all Tysons residents. The strongest directory-like sources are purpose-specific: iCare for recorded property ownership, court land records for transaction parties, voter channels for regulated registration information, and Fairfax's development systems for parties connected to a project. Each leaves out people the other records may reach. Read the field label before drawing a conclusion from it.

A property question usually begins with iCare; an older name belongs in library collections; a specific modern name needs independent verification. The Tysons resident lookup path is narrower when the goal is to evaluate one person rather than a place.

Tysons Court Dockets by Name

Virginia's statewide case-status service offers court-specific search paths; the Fairfax Circuit, General District, and Juvenile and Domestic Relations courts are the relevant local courts. Results can identify a court, case number, filing or hearing context, party, and status. The official clerk file remains the place to resolve an ambiguity, obtain a record, or confirm whether a result is sealed, restricted, or otherwise incomplete. A docket is a court's running case record, not proof of a current address.

Virginia's statewide OCIS entry point provides the court-search route referenced by the records map.

Use a docket result with a second source such as a parcel, directory, or court-file detail, because a similar name alone is not a reliable identity match.

Tysons Vital Index Boundaries

Virginia Department of Health's Office of Vital Records is the statewide custodian for birth, death, marriage, and divorce certificates. The public index must carry at least name, date, and city-or-county fields after receipt, but certificates have different access dates. Under Code of Virginia §32.1-271, birth records open 100 years after birth; death, marriage, divorce, and annulment records open 25 years after the event, subject to statutory and legal restrictions. Before an opening date, a certified copy requires an eligible requester and identification.

VDH's vital-record application information documents the online channel and current request choices.

The state lists a $15 search or certificate fee and a $10 amendment fee, with stated online and paper processing timing. Fairfax health-district and DMV locations offer many in-person issuance channels.

Tysons Family History Shelves

The Virginia Room, on the second floor of City of Fairfax Regional Library, is the best local fallback when a portal has a date gap or subscription wall. Its collection includes directories, telephone books, local newspapers, maps, manuscripts, photographs, school yearbooks, cemetery material, rare books, and local government/legal resources. It also has a designated CPAN station and a microform reader-printer that can save to USB. The room is at 10360 North Street in Fairfax, and its listed phone is 703-293-6227, option 6.

FCPL has digitized more than 300 Fairfax County Public Schools yearbooks from 36 schools and placed them on Internet Archive, while nearly 500 physical yearbooks remain in the Rare Book Room. A yearbook can reconnect a former classmate or fill out a family history, but it is not a present-day resident record. The room's own current-hours page should be checked before a visit.

Tysons Postal Name Mismatches

Tysons is a census-designated place, not an incorporated municipality. Its two confirmed ZIP codes are 22102 and 22182, but those postal areas and the Tysons CDP do not share identical boundaries. County records can show Tysons, McLean, or Vienna as a place label for a property tied to the same Fairfax County jurisdiction. Search all three labels when an address fails, while retaining Fairfax County as the legal locality for court and land records.

The issue matters because a county Tysons market study uses the two ZIPs as a larger analysis area that includes places outside the CDP. A ZIP narrows geography; it does not establish city limits or a person's residence. The Tysons ZIP resource keeps that ZIP-specific work separate from an address search.

Tysons Records Request Path

Virginia Freedom of Information Act access is not a catchall name-search service. Code of Virginia §2.2-3704 covers Virginia citizens and qualifying in-state media requesting existing public records with reasonable specificity. Fairfax provides a VFOIA web request form; the county can charge actual costs and ordinarily must respond within five working days or give a written status response. Send a request to the office that owns the record rather than asking one office to assemble records held by several custodians.

Note: A VFOIA request does not require an agency to create a new record or disclose restricted information.

Historical Tysons Resident Directories

Tysons' printed-directory history is regional rather than a continuous town series. The Virginia Room holds city directories, telephone books, maps, newspapers, yearbooks, rare books, and local-history material. Confirmed related titles include Hill's Fairfax City directories for 1923 and 1963 and Hill's Alexandria Suburban Fairfax County directory for 1966. A research result may therefore be cataloged under Fairfax, McLean, Vienna, Alexandria, or a broader Northern Virginia label.

A dated entry can place a householder, address, or business in a year. It cannot prove every person in a household or supply a present address. The Tysons city directory collections resource explains the shelves, abbreviations, and companion sources in detail.
